The expected iPhone 7

August 19, 2016 update: With just a few weeks to go until the introduction of the iPhone 7, the news bubbling about serves mostly to bolster or discount longstanding rumors rather than present new ones.
Case in point: Japanese site Mac Otakara is refuting reports that Apple will extend its portfolio by adding an "iPhone 7 Pro" model to the entry-level iPhone 7 and super-sized iPhone 7 Plus. Leaked photos published last month on Nowhereelse.fr appeared to show three such models but, according toMac Otakara's sources, it seems that Apple will stick with two editions of the iPhone 7.

In the rumor confirmation category, DigiTimes has joined the chorus of those reporting that the top-tier iPhone 7 will accommodate 256GB of storage. And French site Nowhereelse.fr has published a new image of what its says is the iPhone's rear camera apparatus. This supports previous reports that both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will feature optical image stabilization -- a feature previously reserved only for the Plus -- though it's likely that only the larger phone will come equipped with a dual-lens camera.
To review: we still expect Apple to officially announce the iPhone 7 during the first week of September, with a retail release following on September 16 or 23.
